Linn-Mar Directors

Bob Anderson is currently in his seventeenth year as Director of Choral Activities at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa. He has taught public school choral music in Iowa for over thirty years. His choirs have been selected to many special performances including appearances at the 1992 and 2000 North Central ACDA Conventions and the 2005 National ACDA Convention. Bob directs the highly regarded show choir, 10th Street Edition. This outstanding group has been awarded multiple grand championship trophies in the past several years. He holds a B.M.E. degree from Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, and has done graduate work at the University of Iowa.

Mr. Anderson has served the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) in many capacities. Bob was President of the Iowa Choral Directors Association from 1991-93. He served as the President of the North Central Division of ACDA from 2002-2004 and was the Chairman of the 2004 North Central Division Convention.
Bob and his wife Jill live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jill is the choral director at Northwest Junior High in Iowa City. They have a fifteen-year-old son, Matthew.

June SchmidtJune Schmidt is the Associate Director of Choral Activities at Linn-Mar High School, where she co-directs the Chamber Ensemble, the Concert Chorale, the Select Women’s Choir, Ninth Grade Choir, and directs the prep show choir, In Step.  She is a graduate of Luther College, in her nineteenth year at Linn-Mar, and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Leadership with Technology through Ashford University.

Mrs. Schmidt’s choirs have been invited to sing at numerous honor choirs as well as on local television stations.  She has guest directed various choral festivals and clinics at the high school and junior high levels in Iowa and Wisconsin.  She has also been a longtime member of the Iowa Choral Director’s Association and has been a board member, as well.  In addition, June was the Director for the 2009 Ninth Grade Opus Honor Choir.

Mrs. Schmidt has directed three show choirs: Benton Community’s Celebration Company, Double Time – the junior high show choir at Linn-Mar, as well as In Step.  Each group has been champions in their respective category numerous times, and each has been awarded caption awards in the areas of vocal, band, and choreography.  She has also served as a show choir adjudicator, particularly at the junior high and prep division level.

June’s husband, Bob is the owner/operator of Chick-fil-A, a nationally-known quick service restaurant, and together they are the proud parents of two grown children, Katie and Erich, who were All-State singers and members of the Opus Honor Choir and show choirs during their high school years.  She enjoys spending her free time teaching voice lessons, reading, traveling to Colorado to see her grandson, to California to see her son, and counting her blessings – she is a cancer survivor!

Supernova Director 2011

2011 marks the fourth season for the Hi-Style Show Ensemble at Linn-Mar! The increasing demand and potential for students in vocal music has inspired a third auditioned show choir consisting of male and female students in grades 9 through 12. Keeping with Linn-Mar tradition, Hi-Style strives to create a show filled with variety and personality.  Linn-Mar Hi-Style show choir looks forward in celebrating its fifith year of excellence and its first year under the direction of Jody Nekvinda.   Jody, along with Kevin Chase, has put together a great selection of 80’s music.  Linn-Mar is very excited to welcome Jody and wish her and all of the members of Hi-Style continued success.
